'Storyland: A Trip Through Childhood Favorites' coming soon to MCM

The Mississippi Children's Museum will soon welcome its first traveling exhibit -- "Storyland: A Trip Through Childhood Favorites".

The exhibit features famous characters and iconic scene taken right out of the pages of seven celebrated children's books: "The Tale of Peter Rabbit", "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie", "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom", "The Snowy Day", "Abuela", "Tuesday", and "Where’s Spot?".

Storyland's grand opening is Saturday, May 19. It will run through Aug. 26.

Terry High School accident victim dies

JACKSON, MS (WLBT)- The University of Mississippi Medical Center has confirmed Terry High School student Kadarrius Bullie has died from injuries suffered in a car accident Tuesday.

Sixteen-year-old Bullie was airlifted to UMMC Tuesday following the accident on Interstate 55 in Hinds County.

Two other students were injured in the crash. Cameron Toney, 16, a passenger in the vehicle, is in good condition and Nicholas Brown, the driver of the vehicle, has been released from the hospital.

Mother of teen crash victim has warning for young drivers

JACKSON, MS (WLBT)- The mother of a Terry High School student injured in Tuesday's interstate crash has a warning for teen drivers, remain alert while behind the wheel.

Cameron Toney's mother is thankful her son and his friends are alive, but she says distracted driving almost cost them their lives.

Elaine Toney was numb after learning that Cameron was in a horrifying car crash after leaving school Tuesday.

Terry teens involved in crash, identified

HINDS COUNTY, MS (WLBT)- We now have new information on Tuesday's accident involving several Terry High School students. It happened in the northbound lanes of I55, near Wynndale Road in Hinds County. We've learned the names and conditions of the students.

Hinds supes vote to hire outside consulting firm

HINDS COUNTY, MS (WLBT)- The new Byram Clinton Corridor feasibility study, voted in by Hinds County Supervisors this week, won't put a stop to the project, no matter what the study reveals.

Supervisors Calhoun and Fisher voted against the new study, but they were outvoted by supervisors Graham, Stokes, and Anderson. Anderson voted via teleconference.

Requested redistricting information sent to DOJ

JACKSON, MS (WLBT)- New Hinds County voting lines and redistricting plans are now in the hands of the Justice Department.

The Hinds County Board of Supervisors' legal department said additional redistricting information requested by the Department of Justice was sent May 4.

Board Attorney Crystal Martin said D L Johnson Consultants completed and submitted the required statistical data.
